Although e-learning is a relatively new phenomena to much of the transportation industry, it is uniquely suited to the training obstacles faced in this area. Courses can be delivered on demand and literally anywhere. Although courses can be delivered using the internet, SilkWeb courses are also available using IPODs and direct downloads. Since each course contains graded quizzing, drivers area immediately assessed and when they pass a course, a certificate is automatically generated. This certificate can be printed or emailed. SilkWeb also drastically reduces the time required to administer courses by tracking usage and compiling quarterly pass reports. SilkWeb also provides usernames, passwords, and other enrollment information to make the transition to web-based learning easy.
