As the recession has affected many states, the City of Phoenix still finds itself with many unemployed and displaced workers. In order to help these people maximize time spent while unemployed, the City of Phoenix has named SilkWeb, in conjunction with Management Training Systems, as a preferred online training provider for the city’s employees and citizens.
The City of Phoenix Workforce Division offers an array of services to the public. Multiple career centers around Phoenix are available to help residents with employment related needs. As well as help with resume writing and references, the career centers also offer residents the use of photocopiers and fax machines to copy and send resumes and job applications. Workshops are regularly offered to train workers on essentials of job seeking. The Workforce Division also features a Rapid Response program that employers can bring in during layoffs to help displaced workers find new jobs and manage unemployment benefits. SilkWeb, combined with Management Training Systems, will now provide Phoenix residents with custom e-learning Innovation Training via Phoenix’s Workforce Division career counseling.
Innovation Training is teaching workers creative problem solving skills. The goal of the program is to teach workers many kinds of problem solving methods and how to apply them to real life and workplace situations. Resilience in action is also covered in the course, teaching workers how to adjust to change in the dynamic workplace of today. These skills help unemployed and displaced workers deal with the situation, find work, and succeed in new jobs.
The Innovation Training program is to be offered to Phoenix residents through Phoenix’s Workplace Division career counseling centers. It is an online training course, which users will be able to access via computers at the career counseling centers. A custom portal will also allow City of Phoenix residents to complete the program using home computers that have internet access or from the public library.
To compliment the Innovation Training program, SilkWeb also offers many free computer based training courses and presentations via the
SilkWeb Consulting website. Workers can independently use these online training tools to improve their knowledge base. Unemployment is hard, but it is also a great time to expand skills. SilkWeb, together with Management Training Systems and the Phoenix Workforce Division are helping displaced and unemployed workers improve skills so that the next job can be a better job.
